Hello, we’re an international team with expertise in microfinance, data science, behavioural economics and human-centred design. We started Rubyx in 2019 to revolutionise the way informal entrepreneurs and small businesses access working capital for income generating activities.
We’ve built a cloud-native, API-driven digital lending platform that enables service providers to rapidly launch innovative loan products that meet the needs and expectations of borrowers. Rubyx lowers the cost of entry to AI capabilities and makes credit scoring algorithms easy to understand so that the power of data benefits all.
Pioneering new lending ecosystem models, we support different types of partnerships:
- We enable non-lenders such as digital platforms to easily embed lending features into their services to deliver more value to their customers.
- We work with banks and microfinance institutions to help them accelerate their digital transformation and reach new markets.
Currently, we operate in the following countries: Cambodia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Ghana, Tunisia, Jordan, Georgia, India and Madagascar.

We work remotely and get things done. Our team is spread out from Canada to China, sometimes you’ll have to put an effort to schedule meetings that work for everyone. Mostly, for you this means flexible working hours.

Job description
We’re looking for a Business development manager to pilot the deployment of Rubyx into the Nigerian market. You will be in charge of prospecting and growing the customer portfolio as well as coordinating Rubyx platform implementation with our clients in the country.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to identify business opportunities in Nigeria.
- Conduct commercial discussions and presentations of Rubyx solution to potential customers.
- Follow-up business development opportunities.
- Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate and close deals.
- Draft and coordinate order forms and contract signatures.
- Represent Rubyx as the key focal point for prospects and clients’ interactions.
- For each new client, following Rubyx methodology, define project plans, identify stakeholders tasks and responsibilities and mobilize resources.
- Coordinate Rubyx platform implementation and facilitate client’s onboarding.
- Provide continuous support and maintain active relationships with clients.
- Upsell new products to existing clients.
- Collect customer feedback and share insights with the product team to identify the next platform evolution.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in industry events.
- Keep management informed by submitting regular activity reports.
Requirements
Professional Skills
- Proven work experience in project management, product implementation, customer account management and business development.
- Experience in prospection, negotiation and closing deals.
- Experience in the financial services industry, microfinance or fintech.
- Experience in cloud based SAAS business environments.
- Exceptional ability to communicate and foster positive business relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Personal Skills
- Fluent in English, French is a plus.
- Open minded and ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures
- Cultivate the start up spirit and look for innovation and excellence
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a distributed working environment
